Home surveillance video and quick action by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and Fort Walton Beach Police Department led to the capture of three suspects Sunday in an armed burglary that injured one person.
17-year old Nigel Fryer of Fort Walton Beach, 23-year old Dazzmin Ford of Birmingham Alabama, and 22-year old Ladarius McCall of Fort Walton Beach are charged with robbery with a firearm and burglary with assault. Fryer, who is on felony probation for vehicle theft, is also charged with possession of a weapon by a Florida delinquent.
The home invasion, which shows the victims’ door being kicked in by masked men, was captured on home surveillance video at their address at 25 Yacht Club Drive in Cinco Bayou around 4:30 a.m. September 13th.
One victim, who was asleep on the couch, was hit in the face.
The trio fled when the resident’s dogs came after them. Several shots were fired.
OCSO deputies were able to use the home video to quickly get a description of the suspects’ clothing and put out a “BOLO” – or “Be On the Lookout”.
Officers with the Fort Walton Beach Police Department spotted three individuals matching the description at Jet Drive Park and detained them until deputies arrived.
Ford told deputies the plan was to take money and drugs. He also directed them to firearms and masks discarded after the home invasion.
