The formal definition for Crime Prevention is the anticipation, recognition, and appraisal of a crime risk and the initiation of action to remove or reduce the crime through public education. What that translates to is doing all we can to help citizens realize they can be additional eyes and ears in our community to help law enforcement and boost public safety. The Sheriff’s Office offers individuals numerous free educational programs and services.
A few of the most popular programs and services are Neighborhood Watch, Self Defense Tactics Classes, (CPTED) Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, vacation security checks, Take Me Home program, and (CASE) Communities Against Senior Exploitation fraud and scam programs.
