A burglary at a residence and barn on Mount Olive Road in Crestview yesterday ended with an arrest after an observant individual called the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

A man discovered the property had been burglarized and reported seeing a GMC pickup leaving the area. The following day, the same truck returned to the property. The man saw the driver, later identified as 40-year-old Robert Andrew Robinson, on the property and immediately contacted OCSO.

Deputies located the truck nearby and conducted a traffic stop. During the investigation, Robinson consented to a search of the vehicle, where deputies recovered approximately $1,800 worth of stolen property belonging to the victim.

Deputies also located:

• Approximately 1 gram of fentanyl

• A bottle containing promethazine

• Two spray devices containing Valium

• A digital scale with residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine

• Drug paraphernalia

• A concealed knife. Because Robinson is a convicted felon, he was also charged with Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon.

Robinson told deputies he believed the property had been abandoned because the owner was deceased. The victim advised Robinson did not have permission to be on the property or remove anything.

Robinson was charged with:

* Burglary of an Unoccupied Dwelling

* Grand Theft

* Three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance Without a Prescription

* Two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

* Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon

Excellent work by the deputies whose quick response helped recover the victim’s stolen property and take illegal drugs and a weapon off the streets! And a big shout out to the individual who saw something and said something!
