Bid Request – Elevator Design
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is seeking quotes from qualified, licensed architects for the design of an elevator and other additions/modifications that may be necessary to bring an existing, two-story facility into full compliance with ADA regulations. The facility is owned by the Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners (a Title II entity) and operated by the Sheriff’s Office, a constitutional office within Okaloosa County, Florida. The facility site address is 650 Chappie James Street SW, Crestview, FL 32536.
When originally designed in 2020, the Florida Building Commission granted a waiver to the requirement for vertical accessibility (FSS 553.509) based on the planned use of the second story exclusively for sworn, law enforcement officer training. As space use needs have changed, the Sheriff’s Office now desires full use of the second story and requires the services of a licensed professional knowledgeable of current ADA regulations and practical building design options to achieve full compliance. The Sheriff’s Office desires to partner with a firm capable of producing a cost-effective, functional solution through engagement with local stakeholders to design, engineer, and draft the best option for our application. The Sheriff’s Office expects, at a minimum, the following services to be offered/quoted:
•
Assessment of existing structure
•
Review of existing building/site plans and FL Building Commission Waiver
•
Meetings with stakeholders to offer suggestions and establish a desired outcome
•
Production of complete, engineered design plans ready for permitting, which should include structural, electrical, foundation, civil, etc. components
Firms interested in providing a quote should contact Captain Ron Kimble via email (Facilities@sheriff-okaloosa.org) or phone (850-613-2341). All quotes should be submitted by 12:00 PM on December 4, 2024 via email to facilities@sheriff-okaloosa.org or in person at 50 2nd Street, Shalimar, FL 32579.
