Outstanding work by OCSO deputies led to the arrest to two suspects connected to suspicious activity, drug possession, and retail theft in Destin.
32-year old Christopher James Debose and 23-year old Kaitlin Bunton, both of Evansville Indiana were taken into custody Sunday near the Walmart on Emerald Coast Parkway.
Deputies responded after an OCSO Sergeant spotted suspicious behavior involving a woman driving a U-Haul van tied to an earlier retail theft investigation.
When deputies approached, Debose ran from the passenger seat and shoved a deputy in the chest before being quickly apprehended.
Their investigation resulted in the recovery of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and suspected stolen merchandise. Bunton also made admissions to multiple retail thefts at area businesses.
Debose is currently charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting without violence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bunton faces charges including possession of a controlled substance, resisting without violence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The investigation is ongoing. Meanwhile OCSO Deputies say the pair has numerous active and pending warrants across Northwest Florida.
Deputies say clothing items Debose was wearing when he fled still had tags attached but Debose claims he bought them online six months ago.
Shout-out to Sgt. Shelley for his sharp observation skills and to all the responding deputies for their efforts to keep our community safe!
