A Fort Walton Beach area woman has been arrested following an incident involving a young child on Circle Drive.
Our deputies resonded last night around 6:30 to a disturbance in the 500 block of Circle Drive. The investigation revealed Carolyn Miller was involved in an event after falling from her bicycle.
According to witness statements, a three-year old child approached Miller in an apparent attempt to check on her well-being but Miller picked up two beer bottles and threw them in the child’s direction. Witnesses say the bottles were thrown with enough force that had the child not ducked, he could have been struck in the head.
The child’s parents witnessed the incident, and along with multiple nearby residents, provided sworn statements corroborating the events.
Deputies say during their contact with Miller she was unable to provide a coherent explanation for her actions, stating only she believed she was being attacked. She suffered a minor finger injury consistent with falling from a bicycle.
Miller has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. No injuries to the child were reported.
