A Fort Walton Beach man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault following a stand-off at an apartment on Okaloosa Island early this morning.
Deputies responded to 354 Billfish Avenue, Unit # 210, at approximately 1:20 a.m. after a call that 26-year old Jason Wade Hamby had barricaded himself in the home after threatening his wife and a her friend with a gun. He had also threatened to harm himself and told his wife is anyone came through the door he was going to shoot them. Hamby’s wife told deputies that a 6-year old child was sleeping inside the residence. The OCSO Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiation Unit responded and attempted to make contact with Hamby but he refused to communicate with law enforcement.
The stand-off ended around 5:30 a.m. this morning when the Special Response Team entered the residence and took Hamby into custody without incident. The 6 year old child was also located and was unharmed.
