A Crestview man who shoved a woman and teen down wooden steps is charged with domestic violence related battery (second or subsequent offense) and child abuse. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrested 43-year old Herman Newton October 7th after an argument at a home on Canary Way turned physical. The female victim says Newton held her down by the throat and later forcefully pulled the juvenile out of bed. When the teen came to her defense with a lawnmower blade, she cut her hand attempting to intervene. The disturbance led to the front porch where Newton pushed the woman and juvenile down the wooden steps. A smoking pipe taken from Newton’s pants pocket tested positive for methamphetamine.
