A Holt man is charged with negligent manslaughter following an incident at his home Wednesday night. Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence on Wilkerson Bluff Road around 7:30 p.m. 61-year old Ronald Norris says he was alone in his home when he heard his front door open. He says he walked toward the door with a shotgun and found his wife inside. The two got into an argument and another man came in stating he was there for the woman’s safety. Norris says the barrel of the gun was pointed at the pair and he cocked the hammer to intimidate them, telling them to get out. He told deputies the victim grabbed the barrel and yanked it, causing the shotgun to discharge. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head. An individual who witnessed the altercation through a window said he saw the victim attempt to push the barrel away and then heard a gunshot.
