A 16-year old burglary suspect near Crestview was captured Tuesday morning after stealing a car and fleeing from Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Jerry Bankhead of Olin Merritt Street is accused of burgarlizing a business trailer on Live Oak Church Road, taking multiple items to include a violin. When confronted by an employee he threw the items back into the trailer and ran into nearby woods.
Bankhead stole a nearby car to attempt a getaway. Deputies quickly spotted him however and a short pursuit took place before Bankhead crashed the car into a fenceline near Interstate 10 and was taken into custody.
Bankhead was taken to a Regional Juvenile Detention Center on charges of burglary, grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding lights and sirens, and battery on a law enforcement officer, for spitting on a deputy.
