Nehemiah Project

During the week of January 14th deputies with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Fort Walton Beach Police Department pulled together and organized a volunteer project within the Sylvania Heights community. This effort was to support “The Nehemiah Project,” a non-profit organization which focuses on providing homes for homeless veterans, as well as programs and opportunities to assist them in becoming self-sufficient.

Law enforcement officers with both agencies combined for approximately 140 hours of volunteer work to include clean-up, tree trimming/removal, mowing, edging, and pressure washing.

OCSO Sgt. Dennis Fields says “Special thanks to Waste Management who provided four, 30-yard dumpsters (at cost) which was paid for by OCSO Star Charities. We would also like to thank Hungry Howies (Niceville) and F.O.P Lodge 146 for donating lunch to over 30 officers.”
