A 51-year old man was hospitalized with extensive head injuries May 17th following a severe beating near a vacant home on Richbrough Lane in Crestview.
24-year old Richard Josiah Hanchett of 155 Cabana Way in Crestview is charged with felony battery. The victim, Kenneth Lamar Fuller, no known address, was airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola after Okaloosa County deputies found him with multiple facial fractures and unable to speak after they responded to a disturbance call at 2859 Soles Lane.
Hanchett told deputies that he was at his girlfriend’s home and walked outside, spotting a man later identified as Fuller looking in the bedroom window. Fuller fled on his bicycle and Hanchett says he gave chase and eventually knocked him off. Hanchett told deputies Fuller began fighting to get away and he was forced to use physical force, beating and kicking Fuller, to keep him there. Fuller suffered sinus and orbital fractures along with a skull fracture and multiple jaw fractures and a dislocated shoulder. At last word he was in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit in serious but stable condition. Deputies say Hanchett had no visible injuries.
