The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has charged four juveniles ranging in age from thirteen to sixteen with a rash of car break-ins that took place Sunday in the Fort Walton Beach area. Deputies were called to 721 James Lee Road after a man said he had chased four subjects he found inside his car.

Deputies set up a perimeter and called in a K9 to help with the search. They were able to track down and locate the four suspects. Two of the individuals are on juvenile probation. The investigation revealed multiple car burglaries had taken place, including at Bob Sikes Apartments on Bob Sikes Boulevard and Tyner Apartments on Tyner Street. Stolen property was recovered. The OCSO reminds people to lock your car, take your keys, and hide your belongings. One of the teens told deputies the group had been walking around town to go “car hopping”, a term used to describe randomly looking for unlocked cars to find items to steal.
