A fifth grade student at Shalimar Elementary School was arrested today by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office after multiple classmates reported he was asking where a third grader lived because he planned to get his father’s shotgun and kill her.

The students went to their teacher, who immediately reported the threat to the School Resource Officer for investigation. The classmates repeated the statements they overheard to the SRO. They said the 11-year old appeared angry, they believed he was serious, and they were afraid.

The student admitted to the deputy he had made those comments. He also confirmed that his father has a shotgun, stored in the home’s bedroom, but said he does not have access to the weapon. He told the SRO he made the threat because he was angry over an argument the third grader had with one of his friends, but he did not mean it.
