A Fort Walton Beach man involved in an early morning fatal shooting following a residential break-in fled the scene with the gun and is now charged with tampering with evidence.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office was called to 115 Shirley Drive near Fort Walton Beach shortly after five a.m. this morning by a woman reporting that a man had broken into her townhome and been shot.
The fatally wounded individual is identified as 30-year old Blaise Albertie Chamberlain of 116 Shirley Drive.
The woman told deputies her boyfriend, 41-year old Antwan Cobb, shot Chamberlain after Chamberlain forced his way into their townhouse and punched Cobb in the face.
After the shooting Cobb left and ran to a family member’s home nearby, asking him to hold on to the gun.
The OCSO obtained a search warrant and found the gun in the home.
Cobb says the shooting was self-defense.
The investigation is continuing.
