Joint Narcotics Search Warrant

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and Crestview Police Department joined forces Tuesday to execute a narcotics search warrant at a vacant business on West Cobb Avenue in Crestview, leading to the arrests of eight individuals on various misdemeanor charges. The investigation is ongoing and additional felony warrants are forthcoming.

The members of the Okaloosa County Organized Crime Task Force conducted an investigation into the criminal activities at 215 West Cobb Ave in response to complaints from community members who have witnessed drug activity, violence, prostitution, and disorderly intoxication.

Those located on scene and arrested are Crestview residents:

46-year old Dewayne Williams — Resisting Arrest Without Violence

44-year old Nikia Morris — Active warrant / Resisting Arrest Without Violence

64-year old Edris James – Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

61-year old James Wesley – Resisting Arrest Without Violence

60-year old Wendell Lewis – Resisting Arrest Without Violence

19-year old Donte Corey – Resisting Arrest Without Violence

69-year old Ruth Weems – Resisting Arrest Without Violence

38-year old Abner McElrath — Child Support Civil Commit

Multiple firearms were recovered including one that had been reported stolen.

Crestview Police Chief Stephen G. McCosker said, “This is a good reminder of how weapons can fall into the wrong hands and become a threat to citizens and law enforcement. I encourage everyone to re-move and secure weapons from their vehicles when they are not occupied. We would like to thank the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office for their continued partnership in dealing with public nuisances and reducing crimes in our community.”
