Two Fort Walton Beach teenagers are charged with car theft after they were found sitting in the stolen vehicle at a vacant lot yesterday evening. Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responding to a call of a suspicious car around 9 p.m. found 18-year old Antonio Prather of 117 Bradford Street and 15-year old Jadden Edwards of 523 Union Street inside a white Mercedes backed into a vacant lot on Weeks Road. Two juvenile passengers were in the back seat. Deputies say when they approached the car; Edwards had a pink mini taser in his lap in plain view. While searching Edwards, deputies found a single grey car key in his front pocket and another key with an orange tag in his left pocket. Additional keys were also found in the front glove box and console. A check of the car revealed it had been reported stolen out of Niceville. Prather is charged with vehicle theft and providing false information while detained. Edwards is charged with vehicle theft and open carry of a weapon. The juvenile passengers were released to their parents. The investigation is continuing.
