The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a third grader at Wright Elementary reported that a man in a green van offered her a bag of candy as she rode her bicycle to school.

The 9 year old says she was heading east on Pelham Road around 8:30 a.m. Monday when a green van approached her. She says when she was near the area of West Sunset Drive and Lang Road the passenger struck his arm out of the window, holding a bag of candy, and asked her if she wanted any. She told her School Resource Officer the van followed her closely, then passed by her as she approached the school.

The child described the van as dark green with a thin white stripe down the side, with pink wheels in the back and white wheels in the front. She said the passenger who offered her candy had long brownish blonde hair and a tattoo saying “BOSS” on his right hand and another tattoo of a cross with a chain around it on his right forearm.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office at 850-651-7400 or Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at 850-863-TIPS, emeraldcoastcrimestoppers.com, or by texting “TIP 214 plus your message” to CRIMES (274637).
