William Eddins, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit, announced today that Jason Terrell Harris has been convicted of Attempted Robbery with a Firearm after a jury trial which ended Friday evening.

The charges concerned an incident which occurred on July 9th, 2012, at the Tom Thumb Store located at 1605 Florence Avenue in Fort Walton Beach. Two individuals entered the store brandishing handguns. The clerk ran into the backroom and the men ran back out of the store.

A co-defendant, Randall Spears, has already entered a plea and is scheduled for sentencing on April 14, 2014.

Harris is scheduled for sentencing on April 22, 2014. He faces a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

Circuit Judge William Stone presided over the trial. The case was investigated by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant State Attorney John Reed was responsible for the prosecution and may be reached at (850) 651-7260 for any further questions.
