Charlie Nix

Education:  Fisher High School, Lafitte, Louisiana 1984; Law Enforcement Standards and Training, North West Florida State College 1993. Bachelor of Arts Criminal Justice, University of West Florida, Pensacola, Fl. 2019;  Senior Leadership Program Class #20 Tallahassee, Florida 2017; FDLE Executive Leadership Seminar Class #6, Tallahassee, Florida 2018.

Military:  Honorable Discharge United States Air Force, 1986-1994; Veteran, served in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Awarded the Kuwait Liberation Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

Career:  Began working with the Okaloosa Sheriff’s Office as a Posse member in 1991.  Became as a part-time deputy in November of 1993 before being hired to a full time position in February 1994. First assignment was to the patrol division in the City of Destin until 1999. Selected as a K-9 handler in 2000. Worked central patrol until being promoted to Investigator in 2005. Promoted to Corporal in 2007 and Sergeant in 2008. Promoted to Lieutenant 2010 and served as the Special Operations Commander. Promoted to Captain in October of 2016. Promoted to Undersheriff in January 2021.

Honors and Affiliations:  Selected as Deputy of the Quarter 1997. Selected for K-9 Case of the Quarter in 2002. Selected by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as a subject matter expert pertaining to law enforcement training curriculum development. Recently selected to the Board of Directors for Children in Crisis. Serves as Vice-President for Kiwanis of Destin. First Judicial Circuit Law Enforcement Association member and current President of the OCSO Sheriff’s Star Charity 2019-2021. 492nd Special Operations Wing Honorary Commander Hurlburt Air Force Base.
