The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to collect evidence and take statements today as part of its investigation into a fatal shooting in an Okaloosa Island parking lot Wednesday morning.

Investigators say a disturbance began outside the Red Rose Gentleman’s Club on Santa Rosa Boulevard shortly before 5 a.m. and spilled over into a parking lot across the street. At some point during the altercation, 27-year old off-duty Escambia County Sheriff’s Deputy Sardor Pulatov suffered a gunshot wound to the arm while firing a weapon. 32-year old Dustin Edward Jones of Valparaiso was struck once in the chest and died at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. A third individual, 21-year old Kyle Scott Parker of Fort Walton Beach, was struck in the leg. He was treated for his injury at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center Wednesday before being released.

The OCSO is working to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The State Attorney’s Office is assisting. The collection and analysis of evidence will take time. Additional updates will be issued as warranted.
