Stolen elantra car 4 (1)

Two individuals in a stolen car led deputies on a chase through areas near Fort Walton Beach Wednesday afternoon, hitting a Sergeant’s vehicle, crashing into another car, and blowing two front tires before eventually crashing into a telephone pole on Anderson Drive and escaping on foot.

Wednesday afternoon, an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted a silver Hyundai Elantra on Mayflower Avenue. It matched the description of a car that had been reported stolen Tuesday night from a home on Pocahontas Drive. The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop but the driver of the car accelerated and began trying to get away. As other deputies arrived to assist, the driver rammed an OCSO Sergeant’s marked patrol car and kept going. The OCSO called off the pursuit due to the driver’s erratic driving. Less than a minute later the stolen car crashed into another vehicle near Hurlburt Road and Martin Luther King Boulevard, blowing one of its front tires. As it traveled east on Bob Sikes Boulevard, the other front tire blew out. The vehicle was barely moving when the driver and passenger escaped by jumping out of it near 672 Anderson Street and running through the neighborhood before reportedly leaving in another car.

The driver is described as a light skinned black male with should length light and medium brown dreads. He was wearing a black shirt/black or dark gray pants and possibly a red belt. The passenger is described as a dark skinned black male with short hair and wearing dark clothing.

The investigation continues.
