Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputies caught a car burglar in the act early this morning but the suspect tried to make a quick getaway. A witness called the OCSO after spotting a suspicious man trying to get into parked cars at Chez Elan apartments on Racetrack Road shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday.
Deputies set up a perimeter. When they approached the man, he took off running, dropping a backpack found to contain a mini flashlight, screwdriver, other tools and what turned out to be stolen items.
28-year old Channing Taylor of Navarre was taken into custody after a brief foot chase. Taylor is charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, petty theft, resisting an officer without violence, and providing a false name to law enforcement.
