James Poland

POLAND ARREST REPORT

An early morning call about a suspected intoxicated driver at the Mary Esther McDonald’s led to a foot chase and the capture of a Niceville man who already had four active warrants.

21-yearold James Poland immediately began to walk away when an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Supervisor tried to make contact with him at the McDonald’s just before 8 a.m. When he was asked a short time later if he had any warrants, Poland quickly ran out of the restaurant and fled across the street behind Longhorn’s Steak House. Deputies say Poland tried to get into a couple cars but the people sped away. He was quickly captured.

Poland is charged with resisting an officer, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also served active warrants for felony failure to appear for possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics equipment, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, and felony violation of probation.

Nearby Liza Jackson Preparatory School was on lockdown for a brief time as the pursuit was taking place and prior to Poland being taken into custody.
