An apparent drowning victim pulled from the Gulf of Mexico Saturday has been identified as 43-year old Roscoe Brooks of Shannon Mississippi.
A witness spotted Brooks in trouble on a Boogie Board around 1:15 p.m. offshore of 2700 Scenic Highway 98 in Destin.
Destin Beach Safety and a beach attendant rushed to his aid but say Brooks was unconscious and unresponsive when they pulled him ashore and began CPR. He was later pronounced dead at the Destin Emergency Room.
