A missing swimmer whose body was located this morning in Choctawhatchee Bay has been identified as William James Ector of 100 Shell Avenue in Fort Walton Beach. Search and rescue crews discovered Ector’s body around 10:30 this morning in approximately twelve feet of water, about twenty yards offshore of the Marler Park area where he’d last been seen swimming yesterday evening.
Ector was at Marler Park with two men and a woman who say they noticed he was missing but that his belongings were still on the beach. The District One Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine cause of death.
