The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has developed a person of interest in connection with a murder investigation launched by the discovery of the body of a white male on a parcel of private property off Old River Road near Baker Monday. During the course of the ongoing investigation, the individual was taken into custody Monday on unrelated charges.
58 year old Glenn David Winstead of 1006 Valley Road in Crestview is currently charged with a domestic violence injunction violation for possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and possession of marijuana over twenty grams.
A positive identification of the victim has not yet been made.
After developing Winstead as a person of interest yesterday, OCSO investigators discovered Winstead’s car at the America Best Value Inn in Crestview, 4255 South Ferdon Boulevard. The OCSO obtained a search warrant and found three weapons inside the vehicle. Winstead consented to a search of his hotel room, which turned up marijuana and methamphetamine.
Investigators worked into the early morning hours and today continued searching for evidence in the murder case. They believe the victim could be a Crestview man who had been reported missing over the weekend to the Crestview Police Department. However the Medical Examiner’s Office is working to obtain a positive identification of the victim.
