THORNBURG ARREST REPORT

A Destin man who led Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies on a chase from Destin to Fort Walton Beach along Highway 98 this morning after a series of hit and run accidents faces six counts of hit and run involving property damage, six counts of DUI with property damage, aggravated fleeing and eluding with injury or damage, driving under the influence refusal to submit for second time, assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and smuggling contraband into a detention facility.

54-year old Edward Thornburg was taken into custody in Fort Walton Beach. The incident started around 9:30 this morning with a report of a hit and run with the suspect possibly impaired. The suspect left the scene in a white Land Rover, heading west on Highway 98, refusing to stop for OCSO deputies. In his efforts to getaway, Thornburg hit a couple of motorist’s cars and several OCSO patrol cars before finally being stopped and arrested near First Street and Florida Blanca Place in Fort Walton Beach.
