Darion Gillings

A deputy making a traffic stop in Crestview found a weapon in the truck and drugs on the driver, who later tried to kick out the rear window of a patrol car. Another deputy was kicked in the face while trying to restrain the driver, who now faces multiple felonies.

20-year old Darion Gillings of 4672 Bobolink Way in Crestview is now charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute within 1000 feet of a church, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute within 1000 feet of a church, battery on a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Gillings was pulled over near the Burger King on James Lee Boulevard February 20th. The deputy spotted a .380 caliber pistol between the seat and center console with the hammer back. He also found drugs in Gillings front pockets.

While being escorted to the patrol car, Gillings became verbally abusive and refused to cooperate. After finally getting him in the back seat, Gillings began kicking the rear window with both feet. A deputy who reached in to stop him was kicked in the face but not seriously injured.

Gillings was restrained and taken to the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview.
