Ashley Carnley
CARNLEY ARREST REPORT
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a woman on charges of aggravated child abuse in connection with injuries suffered by a five month old baby.
Investigators say 25-year old Ashley Carnley was high on heroin when she violently shook the infant at her home at 806 Massachusetts Avenue in Fort Walton Beach May 31st. The baby, who had facial bruising when brought to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, suffered severe and traumatic brain injuries which will leave him permanently disabled, including blind and deaf.
Carnley admitted the baby was in her care at the time. She said she had taken him out of a crib because he was crying, and was trying to calm him when he suddenly became limp and “unresponsive”.
Doctors say the onset of symptoms in an abusive head trauma incident are almost immediate following the violent shaking.
