Spring Break is officially underway and the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Beach Unit made nearly two dozen arrests over the weekend. Twenty-one of the 23 arrests were for underage possession of alcohol. All involved individuals between the ages of 18 and 20.
Another student was arrested for possession of marijuana. A 20 year old Mississippi man who was in town was also charged with possession of marijuana, possession of alcohol, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Twenty-one of the arrests were made in the Destin area and two others were on Okaloosa Island.
The OCSO has a zero tolerance policy towards underage drinking. “Our primary concern is keeping people safe and we encourage all our Spring Breakers to obey our laws and avoid becoming a statistic, or making decisions that earn them a trip to the Okaloosa County Jail,” said Sheriff Larry Ashley.
