The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a convenience store robbery early this morning that involved a man writing his demand for cash in text on a phone and showing the message to the clerk.

The employee says a man walked into the Tom Thumb at 1096 North Beal Parkway around 1:45 a.m. this morning. He had written a text message asking for money on his phone. He showed it to her and she gave him a small amount of cash. The man then left on foot, heading down nearby Green Acres Road.

A K9 was able to establish a track for a short time.

The clerk describes the robber as a tall, slender black male in his mid to late forties. He was wearing a black doo rag, white tank top, dark blue jogging pants with a white stripe and white tennis shoes.

She says the robber also has a glassy, cloudy blue eye.
