A Fort Walton Beach man who ditched his Mercedes and ran following a high speed pursuit near Fort Walton Beach on December 31st has been located and is now charged with multiple felonies.

30-year old Roderick McKinnon fled when an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted a traffic stop around 10 p.m. near Mary Esther Cut-Off. McKinnon ditched the car in an apartment parking lot on Gap Creek Road and took off on foot.

Inside the car deputies found approximately nine grams of fentanyl, 14 grams of mushrooms, six grams of crack cocaine, and a 9mm handgun loaded with a ten round magazine.

McKinnon was found to have more than three prior convictions for driving with a license suspended or revoked and ten previous felony convictions.

His new charges include trafficking in fentanyl, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine, fleeing and eluding, and driving with a suspended license – third or more offense.
