Great teamwork by Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and K9 deputies led to the arrest this morning of a Fort Walton Beach man who had been caught in the act of burglarizing a car on the victim’s home surveillance video.
20-year old Craig Pierce is charged with breaking into a vehicle on Drifting Sands Trail in Destin around 4:30 a.m.
The homeowner called law enforcement to report she was watching a man on her camera system break into her car. OCSO deputies quickly saturated the area and set up a perimeter. Photos of the suspect from taken from off the video were shared and two deputies immediately recognized the suspect as Pierce. A short time later a K9 deputy spotted him in his car near Indian Trail and Commons Drive and conducted a traffic stop. Pierce was taken into custody, his car towed, and evidence seized. The investigation continues.
