The First Judicial Medical Examiner’s Office has positively identified the body discovered yesterday in South Walton County as missing Destin resident Osvaldo Torres-Michua.

Two suspects in his disappearance, first reported to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office on August 2nd, are currently in custody on unrelated charges at the Walton County Jail. Investigators recovered Torres-Michua’s body from a shallow grave in a woody and swampy area off 16th Street in South Walton County around 9:30 p.m. last night.

The OCSO has been assisted in this investigation by the FDLE, Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Bay County Search and Rescue Unit, State Attorney’s Office, and Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.

The investigation is continuing to develop and additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
