OCSO K9 Merlin is getting ready to hang up his harness, but not before helping make three narcotics arrests in his very last deployment before retirement.
During a traffic stop on Eglin Parkway and Waterway Lane near Fort Walton Beach Wednesday, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Matt Sumner deployed K9 Merlin after a vehicle was stopped for multiple traffic infractions . A probable cause search of the vehicle and its occupants by deputies found suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.
56-year old Adrienne Harringon, 62-year old Vincent Campisi, and 37-year old Jessica Chalfant , all of Santa Rosa Beach, were arrested as a result of the investigation. It wraps up a long list of successful law enforcement missions for K9 Merlin during his career with his handler. Enjoy your retirement K9 Merlin – you have certainly earned it!
