ARREST MADE : The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest following an investigation into a threatening social media post that began circulating earlier today and referenced local schools.
A local teenage female suspect is in custody facing two felony charges. Investigators determined the teen did not appear to have access to weapons, and the threat was not deemed credible.
Our School Resource Officers, Patrol deputies and Investigations Division immediately began working to identify the person behind the post and assess the credibility of the threat. Their coordinated efforts led investigators to the suspect.
We want to thank everyone who shared information and helped us get to the bottom of this quickly.
And to our SROs, patrol deputies and investigators: great work. Your swift response, thorough investigation and teamwork helped ensure this matter was taken seriously and brought to a resolution.
We will continue to take threats against our schools seriously and investigate them thoroughly.
