NATIONAL NIGHT OUT 2009
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's
Office announces two events Tuesday, August 4th,
as part of a unique crime prevention effort called "National Night Out".
The nationwide program focuses on making communities safer and involves
citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups. businesses, and neighborhood
organizations.
National Night Out 2009 is designed specifically to heighten crime and
drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local
anti-crime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community
partnerships.
In Okaloosa County, the
Sylvania Heights Front Porch Community will have food, games, back-to-school
supplies and more at its event. It takes place from five to ten p.m. at the
Sylvania Heights Community Park at 311 Shirley Drive. For more information

The Sheriff's Office Substation in Bluewater Bay is the site of another
event, scheduled to occur from 6 p.m. to
2 a.m. Contact Deputy Frank Taylor at 850-865-3516 for additional information.
The Sheriff's Office will have information available ranging from child
safety to establishing Neighborhood Watch programs.
Both events are free and open to the public.
