MAN ARRESTED IN BASEBALL BAT ATTACK
The Okaloosa
County Sheriff's Office announces the arrest of a 23-year old man in connection
with a home invasion robbery and aggravated battery November 1st.
Drick James
Reese, no permanent address, is charged with robbing and attacking 71-year old
Horace Reid at Reid's home, 4481 Goldfinch Way in Crestview.
Okaloosa
Sheriff's Investigator Ralph Garrett says Reese and another person went to
Reid's home and asked to come in. When Reid said no, Reese began to wrestle with
him inside the utility room and garage. Reid
was able to grab a baseball bat for protection, however Reese took the bat and
struck Reid in the head, knocking him out. Reese then took Reid's wallet,
containing $450 in cash, and left.
Investigator Garrett
says Reid was later able to pick Reese out of a photographic line-up.
Reese was arrested
November 24th at the Okaloosa County Jail where he is being held on an unrelated
charge involving a purse snatching. (Mug shot available at jail.)
