OCSO INVESTIGATES DESTIN CRASH
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is
investigating a traffic crash that occurred on Monday October 27, 2008 at 2:20
PM near 36000 East US Highway 98 in Destin. The crash occurred when a 2007 PT
Cruiser, being operated by Dorothy Dunehew of Collierville Tennessee, exited the
driveway of 36000 East US Highway 98 and traveled into the path of a 2006
Kawasaki motorcycle being operated by Aaron Schultz of 169 Duffy Lane in Santa
Rosa Beach. Schultz was traveling east in the center lane. Dunehew was crossing
the eastbound lanes preparing to travel west on US Highway 98 and did not see
Schultz approaching. The motorcycle struck the driver's side front door of the
PT Cruiser. Schultz, who
was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, sustained serious injuries as a
result of the collision and was transported by Gulf Flight helicopter to Sacred
Heart Hospital in Pensacola. He was listed in critical condition Monday evening.
Dunehew and her passenger were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash and
she was transported by ambulance to Sacred Heart Hospital in Sandestin and was
being treated for non- life threatening injuries. Neither drugs nor alcohol
appeared to be a factor in the crash. The crash is still open and under
investigation.
