CHARGES UPGRADED AGAINST NICEVILLE MAN
Randy Scott Riesel
A Niceville man
who originally faced a charge of aggravated battery in connection with a
physical altercation September 16th is now charged with an open count of murder.
27-year old Randy Scott Riesel had gotten out of the Okaloosa County Jail on
bond after the first arrest, but deputies took him back into custody without
incident Monday night at his home at 509 23rd St., Lot #4.
The beating
victim, Charles David May II, never regained consciousness after the fight two
weeks ago at Riesel's residence. He remained at Sacred Heart Hospital in
Pensacola on life support. Based on his condition however, the family made the
decision to terminate life support and May died Saturday, September 27th.
An autopsy by
District One Associate Medical Examiner Dr. Cameron Snider determined the cause
of death as blunt force trauma and determined the manner of death as a homicide.
A witness to the
altercation says May never struck Riesel but Riesel punched, kicked, slapped,
and stomped May's body, head and groin area even after May fell unconscious.
