Deputy Sheriff Anthony "Tony" Forgione

Funeral Services were held today for slain Okaloosa County Deputy Anthony Forgione. The 33-year old Niceville resident was laid to rest in Heritage Gardens Cemetery following an overflow service at Assembly of God Church in Niceville.

Approximately two-thousand people attended the service, including law enforcement officers representing more than 100 law enforcement agencies.

Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris says Deputy Forgione was a man of character and the kind of deputy every Sheriff would want on his team. Sheriff  Morris wants to express his sincere appreciation to the public, for the overwhelming support and concern expressed for the agency and the Forgione family over the past four days.

The Sheriff has permanently retired Deputy Forgione’s Unit Number, 245, in honor of his sacrifice for the community he served so well.

Deputy Forgione is survived by his wife Jessica, and their two daughters, Caitlin and Cassie.
