TWO SUSPECTED ILLEGAL ALIENS ARRESTED AT WORKPLACE
On June 9, 2008 an employee of the City of Destin passed on
to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office information from an unknown former
employee of Callahan’s Restaurant & Deli that Callahan’s was employing illegal
aliens in the kitchen. After completing a preliminary investigation, a
Sheriff’s investigator visited the business Wednesday (today) and informed the
manager of the report. The manager and owner of Callahan’s gave complete
cooperation with the investigation and provided copies of all employment
verification documents.
The investigation revealed that Callahan’s complies
with federal laws regarding the identification and documentation of employees.
In this case, however, two employees used counterfeit Social Security Cards and
apparently counterfeit immigration documents to obtain employment.
Callahan’s cooperated further by not alerting the
suspects, who were then at work, and by assisting the Sheriff’s Office in
effecting the arrests in a manner that prevented further incident.
Arrested and charged with Criminal Use of
Identification Information are:
Julio Gonzalez, 28, of 109 Marler St, Destin
Avel Visoso, 42, of 218 Indian Oaks, Destin
Both are apparently from Mexico and in the US
illegally. Requests for information have been sent to US Immigration and
Customs Enforcement, but no reply has yet been received.
