STUDENT ARRESTED WITH FIREARM
A 17-year old
student at Crestview High School is facing charges of possession of a concealed
weapon, possession of a firearm on
school grounds, and resisting arrest without violence.
A teacher found
an empty gun box in a classroom around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday morning. The School
Resource Officers and administrators immediately began searching for the
suspected student. When he was located in a testing area in the cafeteria, he
ran from the school but was caught near Jones Road. A deputy witnessed the teen
throw down the gun and some ammunition, which was then recovered.
The gun, a
Keltec .380, was not loaded at the time. No one was injured and investigators
are questioning the student to try to determine why he brought the weapon to
school.
His name
will be released later today. Additional charges are also possible.
