OCSO INVESTIGATES MOTORCYCLE FATALITY
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal
traffic accident that took place around 3:10 Monday afternoon on Mary Esther
Boulevard.
Investigators
say a motorcyclist was killed while racing another motorcycle in the southbound
lanes. The victim collided with a
large SUV which had pulled out from the Regions Bank in front of Santa Rosa
Mall.
Witnesses
report that both motorcyclists had been travelling at a high rate of speed in
the left lane. The driver of the SUV says he did not see the approaching
motorcycles when he pulled out of the parking lot, but heard them just prior to
being struck. Deputies are currently looking for the other motorcycle and rider.
The name of the victim meantime has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
