LOCKDOWN
ENDS WITHOUT INCIDENT
A
lockdown Wednesday morning at Richbourg Middle School and Northwood Elementary
School in Crestview ended without incident after School Resource Officers and
deputies located three students who had reportedly stashed guns in woods near
the school.
The guns turned out to be toys and no one was injured. It started when a
student at Northwood Elementary told someone he and two friends had found some
guns and were going to go back and get them. The School Resource Officer was
contacted, initiated the lockdown, called for back-up, and found two of the boys
in the gym at Richbourg Middle School. They told them the name of the third
student, who was located in a classroom at Northwood Elementary.
The boys told deputies the location of the two guns, which turned out to
be plastic.
No one was injured. Sheriff Charlie Morris praised the quick action of
the school resource officer, deputies, students, and staff at the two schools.
Deputy Greg Porch says the lockdown and subsequent investigation went smoothly,
working just as it should.
The three students are in the process of being interviewed.
