SHERIFF MORRIS APPOINTED TO STATEWIDE PANEL

Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris is one of three people named today by Governor Jeb Bush to the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.

Sheriff Morris previously served two years on the Commission to finish out the term of former Clay County Sheriff Scott Lancaster, but this is his first full four-year appointment to the board by the Governor.

He will also be eligible for a second term when this one expires in 2010.

The Commission's primary mission is to ensure Florida 's law enforcement and correctional officers have proper training, qualifications, and ethical standards.

Others named to the panel Monday are Holmes Beach Police Chief Jay Romine and Palm Beach County Deputy Sheriff Belinda Murvin.
