OCEAN CITY BANK ROBBER SOUGHT

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is working to track down a female bank robber who held-up the First National Bank and Trust at 448 Eglin Parkway shortly before noon Friday.

The woman entered the bank, demanded money, and placed what appeared to be an explosive device on the counter. She also showed the teller a gun inside her purse. After the robbery the woman walked out the back door.

The State Fire Marshall’s Office Bomb Squad out of Pensacola, along with the Bomb Squad from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the bank and used a robot to determine the device was not real. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms also assisted, along with the FBI.

The robber is described as a white female, about 5’7” tall, age 35 or younger, with dark hair pulled back into a ponytail. She was wearing a baseball cap, a dark shirt, and dark jeans.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Investigator Bob Grappone of the Okaloosa Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 850-651-7400 or Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at 850-863-TIPS.
