SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS NEEDED

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is looking for people interested in helping ensure our local children can cross the roads near their schools safely. The agency currently has 17 school crossing guards but would like to bring on board five or more additional ones.

An eight-hour mandatory training course is provided free of charge. Guards are paid $9.00 an hour for what is typically a four-hour day; two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon. Guards are needed at various schools around Okaloosa County . Anyone interested in being involved in this critical public safety mission on behalf of local kids is asked to contact Sgt. Bobby Maloney at 259-7895.
