Homicide Suspect Ben Lee Metcalf in Custody

A murder suspect wanted out of Okaloosa County is now in the custody of Tennessee authorities.  The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office was contacted last night after law enforcement officers with the Knoxville Police Department in Tennessee took Ben Lee Metcalf into custody.  Metcalf was arrested around 8 pm on June 22 (Wednesday) for Burglary to a Business, Public Intoxication, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Metcalf was arraigned this morning and will appear before a judge on local charges in Tennessee tomorrow.  Metcalf is currently in the custody of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division. 

Deputies responded the morning of May 11 (Wednesday) after an employee of Destin Water Users noticed a foul odor emitting from 500 Harbor Boulevard , a former retail business known as the Spunky Monkey.  Metcalf has a warrant for his arrest for an open count of murder for the murder of Lannie Wells Jones, SR.  Metcalf is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes.  Metcalf is 41 years old (2/28/64) five feet eleven inches tall.

Two Investigators with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division assigned to the case are en-route to Knoxville , Tennessee , for extradition of Metcalf.
